Technology, environmental concerns, geopolitical events, a whole new generation of Owners – these are just some of the disruptive influences that have impacted the superyacht industry over the last decade. As we reflect on the changes since Quaynote`s first conference in Malta ten years ago, this is the perfect occasion to look at the challenges, as well as the opportunities, that will shape the future.
Taking place at the popular Corinthia St. George`s Bay in Malta, Opportunities in Superyachts, 10th Annual Conference will tackle some of the key questions facing industry leaders, such as:
*How do we attract more superyacht buyers?
*What will the yacht of tomorrow look like and how will it be used?
*Crew Issues
*Can`t get the staff? : Attracting, training and retaining the right crew
*Supply & Demand: How well do Marinas & Refit facilities meet worldwide demand?
*Tackling the spike in on-board fires: Are lithium batteries the culprit?
*Cyber-security Workshop: How can you make the problems go away?
*Taxing questions: Our panel of experts focus on taxation in different jurisdictions.
Together with its sister conference, Opportunities in Business Jets, 10th Annual Conference, taking place on 22nd March, Opportunities in Superyachts will bring together senior executives from across the globe for discussion and debate. With their full programme of panel discussions and keynote presentations as well as roundtable discussions, two drinks receptions, Networking Lunches and Refreshment Breaks, these two one-day back-to-back conferences offer excellent platforms for networking across allied industries.
Given Malta`s role as a key hub for the both superyacht and business jet industries, we look forward to welcoming senior figures from all industry sectors, including specialist lawyers, corporate service providers, marina and refit operators, insurers, brokers, yacht managers, associations, builders, suppliers, government representatives as well as business aviation leaders to Opportunities in Superyachts, 10th Annual Conference.

Questions & Discussion
Session Five: Picasso On board! Legal Pitfalls, Costly Accidents, Seizures
15.00
Panel Discussion: What can go wrong with fine art, who is responsible, are you insured?
As yachts get larger and more sumptuous, the best of the owners’ collections are brought on board for appreciation, enhancement of the interior and of course the prestige that unique pieces offer.
Artworks on yachts, contrary to opinion can fare well in many environments. However, there are protocols to be aware of – not least in today’s volatile environment. The pandemic brought its own challenges, but the war in Ukraine has spawned a whole new set of difficulties as have other cases of immobilization of the yacht and contents in various
conditions. As more vessels are bought, sold and chartered, relocation and onboarding of new pieces is required there are considerations that can stop yacht management, captains and crew in their tracks.
Our panel of experts will share their knowledge on the latest issues and how to avoid them including the vital need for insurance, sanctions, due diligence and pre-empting significant financial and cultural loss.

CEO, Yachting Malta
Michael is a keen sailor who has managed to combine his passion for sailing with his career as CEO of Yachting Malta Ltd. Yachting Malta is a public private partnership between the Government of Malta and the Royal Malta Yacht Club.
Yachting Malta’s primary role is to identify and attract high profile yachting events to the Maltese Islands, including sailing regattas, power racing and boat shows. Drawn to sailing in his late teens, he has contributed toward the recognition of Sailing as a leading sport in Malta through his role as President of the Malta Sailing Federation since 2018. The Malta Sailing Federation is the member national authority for sailing in Malta to World Sailing and is affiliated with SportMalta, Eurosaf, The Malta Olympic Committee and The Commissioner of Voluntary Organisations.
His past experiences both as Director of Malta’s largest yacht marina, Board Secretary of Malta Marittima, as well as that of Secretary of the Malta Cruising Club have put him in touch with the infrastructure of yacht marinas and refit facilities both locally and abroad.
