Elizabeth (Liz) Wilkinson is an accredited Specialist in Occupational Medicine and General Practice in the UK and has been involved in Aviation Medicine for almost 25 years.
She enjoyed the world of full-time aviation medicine with British Airways for 22 years, becoming Head of Health Services in 2010. She made the difficult decision to retire from her role there as Chief Medical Officer in 2019.
She is a Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA), member of the International Academy of Aerospace Medicine, former member of IATA MAG, and immediate past-Chair of the AsMA’s Air Transport Medicine Committee.
Liz is now co-Editor of Ernsting’s Textbook of Aviation and Space Medicine, President of The Association of Aviation Medical Examiners (UK), and President of the International Airline Medical Association (IAMA, formerly AMDA).

Dr. Guido F. Verbeck, Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, is an expert is mass spectrometry, specifically instrument design and development. Dr. Verbeck received his PhD as a Proctor & Gamble fellow in chemistry at Texas A&M University. Dr. Verbeck has developed mass spectrometers over the past 20 years, and has been a member of the analytical community for 25 years. His appointment is at the University of North Texas where he continues to design novel ion optical devices for miniaturization, preparative, and analytical mass spectrometry, and is the Director for the Laboratory of Imaging Mass Spectrometry. In this appointment Dr. Verbeck has received $5M in external funding, 85 peer reviewed publications, 10 awarded patents and 8 applications, and graduated 20 graduate students in instrument development. Guido Verbeck was awarded a Young Investigator Award from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research and the University of North Texas Early Career Award for Research Creativity. Dr. Guido Verbeck continues to develop new mass spectrometers specifically for single-cell analysis for cancer biomarkers, nanoparticle development for pharmaceutical and toxicological biochemical effects, and determining the biological mechanisms for biomolecular condensates.

Dr. Jim Chung has been Air Canada’s Chief Medical Officer since 2016. In this role, he has oversight for
both employee and passenger medical regulatory issues including first aid training, onboard medical
procedures and pilot medical certification.
Dr. Chung is a graduate of the University of Toronto Medical Program and undergraduate studies at
McMaster University.
Following completion of his residency in Family Medicine, he served in the Canadian Forces in various
roles while stationed at CFB Petawawa. Dr. Chung also deployed to Bosnia on Canada’s NATO SFOR
mission and to Turkey with Canada’s DART team in response to a major earthquake in 1999.
Dr. Chung attained his flight surgeon training through the Canadian Forces and also received his Master
in Aviation Medicine and Post graduate diploma in Occupational Medicine through Otago University.
Dr. Chung also completed his emergency medicine training and certification at the University of Toronto
following his retirement from the Canadian Forces, practicing as an emergency medicine physician in
Toronto prior to joining Air Canada in 2009.

James Wiltshire is Assistant Director External Affairs, a position he took up in January 2019. In this role he is responsible for developing global policy for IATA across a broad range of topics. As part of his role, James is the assistant to IATA’s Medical Advisor and has therefore been at the forefront of developing IATA’s policy response to the Coronavirus pandemic and its engagements with UN agencies such as ICAO and WHO.
James is a professional economist by background and joined IATA’s Economics Department in 2013. Frederico Guanais is Deputy Head of the Health Division at the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD), and an international expert in primary care, global health, and health systems strengthening. At the OECD, he has responsibilities in the areas of primary health care, people-centred health systems, health statistics, and the development of the Patient-Reported Indicators Survey (PaRIS), the first ever OECD international benchmarking of the results of health systems from the perspective of patients treated in primary care settings.
Prior to joining the OECD, Frederico was Principal Health Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank, first in Washington, DC then in Lima, Perú. He led the approval of over 1.2 billion US dollars in loan operations to strengthen health systems and improve health care services in Latin America and the Caribbean. He was also the principal investigator of projects on primary health care, integrated healthcare networks, and patient-reported indicators.
Born and raised in Brazil, Frederico is a dual Brazilian and Italian national. He has held senior managerial positions in the Brazilian federal government, in the area of social policy. He is a Civil Engineer by training, and has a Ph.D. in Public Administration with emphasis in health policy, from the New York University (NYU).

Frédéric Dehais is a professor at l’Institut Supérieur de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace (ISAE) at l’Université de Toulouse. He defended his PhD in 2004 at ONERA (Office National d’Etude et de Recherche Aeronautique) on the topic of modeling cognitive conflict in pilots’ activity. He held a 2-year postdoctoral position funded by Airbus applying the research developed during his PhD. Since 2006, he has been leading the Human Factors and Neuroergonomics team at ISAE, which works on academic and industrial projects for providing real-time assistance to human operators.
Professor Dehais was co-chair of the first International Neuroergonomics Conference, held in Paris, France in 2016. Neuroergonomics is an emerging scientific field that applies neuroscience to study performance. Its aim is to look at human skill and brain function in order to design systems for safer and more efficient operation.
